hong kong landmarks

It’s raining today and the view from my living room is quite surreal. This is the fourth city I’ve called home, and after two years it’s finally beginning to feel that way. Hong Kong has raised convenience, shopping and money-making to an art form, and if it’s hard to form an emotional attachment to the place, that’s my fault and not the city’s.
Still, with IFC 2 in plain sight, there is reason to hope.
My Chinese teacher hates this building. “It looks like a birdcage,” she says. I on the other hand think that in a town crammed with buildings but bereft of beautiful architecture, this one is distinctive, powerful and eye-catching.
We’ve come to identify it with the Central skyline, especially on the ferry ride back from Kowloon — it’s a welcoming sight.
That’s a great photo, baby!
