More Manila stuff

I wonder at what point you start finding your parents cute, because right now I think they’re adorable, and it’s freaking me out a little bit.

Last Tuesday, Mookie joined 12 other young female writers at an awards ceremony at the old university. Mom and dad were suitably proud, of course. Dad made me ask for the giant Mookie tarp, and I think he may just be getting that for Christmas.

And because no family photoset is complete without dad making faces, here are some solo shots. That’s dad on the left and his evil twin on the right.

We had dinner that night at a nice little Italian restaurant in Cubao, and dad said something really funny. Or surprising.

I had scoped out the old university the day before, in case you were wondering what it looks like now. Dad said that this was a typical Horacio de la Costa pose - minus the female adornment, I suppose:

The structure on the right, folks, is the building that replaced Colayco Hall.

I must say, despite the sentimental links to the old building, that the place is looking spiffy. There’s a garden in what used to be a bed of rocks, and benches in what used to be a strip of grass.

And finally, because I married the grandson - and namesake - of Colayco Hall, Dad and I climbed up four flights of stairs for this picture.
